EDRA is a Greek NGO based in Athens since 2001. Our activities are related to mental health and intellectual/mental disabilities.

We are going to apply at the 1st October 2012 deadline. The project can start in January 2013 and can last for, at least 6-8 months, upon volunteer¢s availability.

  •  The meeting point “Treffpunkt Kirchdorf Süd (KDS)” is a project of BHH Sozialkontor (BHH) in the south of Hamburg. It is a meeting and counselling point for people with and without disabilities. 

The volunteers give individuals or groups of disabled persons the chance to take part in the social and cultural life of Hamburg. In the following there are some examples for typical activities of European volunteers:  individual company of certain residents during leisure time activities  company of small groups for leisure time activities (e.g. cultural activities, sport)  equal experiences and common learning of disabled persons (as local experts) and European volunteers (as leisure time animate)  development of his or her own cultural projects according to the volunteer’s ideas and abilities (e.g. theatre project, making a film, organizing a day trip, internet project)  working in one of the existing projects and bring in his or her own ideas (e.g. internet café)

  • Each branch of the City Public Library in Gdynia is a hive of activity and a great place for the local community to meet, learn new things and have the use of many facilities. Library is a place full of books- but for sure not boring! Public Libraries offer more than just books, for example: children’s programs, workshops and many interesting events for local communities. 

EVS Volunteer will support employers of the library in actions taken by them, daily tasks, so the opportunities include helping with: •working with patrons (no age limits – guests of library are children at the age of 6 to 14 as well as seniors), •preparing and conducting different activities for groups of children and youth (learning through fun) •preparing and conducting workshops for families •organizing special events (book-exchange picnic) •using the computers, which are at the library •keeping our materials and buildings of library in good shape •working with books, CDs, and other library materials •labeling, •creating displays, •planning and presenting programs, •books and shelves maintaining

Project 1
The Outdoor Leasure Education (OLE) project is an European Voluntary Service project, coordinated by Organizatia Studentilor din Arad, financed by the European Commission, that gives the opportunity for 30 youngsters to have a voluntary stage in Arad, Romania for 10 months (may 2013 – march 2014).
The main field of the project is represented by sports and outdoor activities.
1. FootballClub Curcubeu
– organizing 2 football teams
– team building activities
– coaching the football teams
– organizing football matches
– evaluation activities
2. Sportive Dances Curcubeu
– organizing a sportive dance team of 16 youngsters
– team building activities
– coaching the dance team
– evaluation activities
3. Treasure Hunt Arad
– organizing and managing 5 teams of 6 members each for treasure hunt
activities
– team building activities
– organizing 2 events for teaching orienting techniques
– evaluation activities
4. Cheerleding Curcubeu
– elaborating a 20 person cheearleading team, consisting of Roma people
– managing and coaching the cheerleading team
– evaluation activities
5. Sport activities
– team building activities
– elaborating teams for different outdoor sports
– realizing a weekly sport activity schedule
– evaluation activities.

Project 2
The Anti-Aging Initiative (AAI) project is an European Voluntary Service, coordinated by Organizatia Tinerilor cu Initiativa – Filiala Arad, finances by the European Commission, that gives the opportunity
for 30 youngsters to have a voluntary service stage in Arad, Romania for 10 months (July 2013 – April 2014).
Within the project the volunteers will:
– organize indoor and outdoor activities for elderly people
– organize IT courses for beginners
– elaborating a website for elderly people to present socializing and
voluntary opportunities
– delivering food for elderly people.

  • Letterkenny Youth Information Centre from Ireland will be hosting a 9 month EVS project. The project involves two volunteers coming to volunteer in the Youth Information Centre in Letterkenny. The EVS Volunteers will take up the role of Assistant Information Officers during their placement. They will have a remit to work closely with the Information and Development staff in the delivery of our Outreach plan. They will also be involved in the day to day operations of the information centre and drop-in facility at the Youth Information Centre.
